I think I get anxiety after taking fish oil. I think it causes heart palpitations in various situations for the rest of the day after I have taken it. Flax oil may have similar effects on me, but not as pronounced. This is unfortunate, because I know of the health benefits of omega-3 fatty acids. I've searched the web briefly about this earlier today, and apparently the omega-3 can increase serotonin, and if a person has high serotonin they can get anxiety, and the same with low serotonin. So maybe this tells me that I might have serotonin problems? That is not surprising, because I don't digest/break down proteins and amino acids very well, at least when I did an amino acid test a several months ago. I'm gonna put the fish oil aside for now, because I want to minimize anxiety. Any other ideas about fish oil and anxiety?

I've also heard that fish oil might not be tolerated very well if a person has bacteria dysbiosis problems; another reason might be related to liver problems. There was another reason I've heard recently but I am blanking right now.

I just remembered what the other reason for fish oil to cause anxiety might be. I heard that fish oil can increase adrenaline, which of course can cause anxiety. I'm not exactly sure why omega 3 fatty acids cause adrenaline production to increase, but I think that is what happens. And it's possible that people that have liver problems wouldn't be able to handle the increased adrenaline and then they would feel the anxiety.

I have never heard of fishoil causing anxiety. But why treat anxiety with fishoil, if you have hypoglycemia.

For me, I don't have hypoglycemia. I wanted to use fish oil for health improvement, mainly my brain because of course the brain is made of of around 60% fat.

Well, there are studies showing that fishoil or omega-3 fatty acids helps in the treatment of anxiety attacks.
BTW how do you know you are not hypoglycemic?

Ok, I should have said I don't think I am hypoglycemic. But I don't think I am because I've been eating hypoglycemic diet for over a year now. The first few months, I really barely ate any sugar at all, not even fruit, and I didn't feel any better. Now my diet is typically this: fruit in the morning, then later grains like hot cereal organic brown rice, then later salad of organic spinach with organic olive oil and also tbsp of organic coconut oil, then later 4 servings of frozen broccoli steamed with olive oil, then later 3/4 lb of organic chicken with organic ghee butter. Add to some of the meals stuff like cinnamon, sea salt, turmeric.

I've had a fasting glucose test, which was normal, that was at least 6 months ago.

I did some basic blood tests recently, and my protein levels were normal. A new hypothesis for me is that eating fats especially oils (olive oil, coconut oil, ghee butter) helps with my brain energy. I don't eat protein for breakfast currently, because I'm doing the food combination diet that I read in Orthomolecularism by Hemat. I start with fruit.

this is the difficult bit isn't it when two pieces of information from 2 respectable sources contradict each other. you are obv. doing the right thing by experimenting and finding out what works for you.
i find unless i eat the right breakfast i feel weak and sick by 10 or 11 am. i havent worked out what the right breakfast is yet though

i found a fish oil tablet which has a lower dose of omega 3 oil than other fish oil tablets i have found, but the balance of 3, 6 and 9 is precise. i have read that the balance between the different numbers is important. maybe that's an area for you to look into dave. previously i used very high concentrate of omega 3, then would try to balance it out with a sunflower oil supplement.

That is interesting. I'm still not feeling it with the fish oil atm tbh. I've been coconut oil though which is great.
